West Shore Sun: Person of the Week - Debby Milano

The August 4, 2011 edition of the West Shore Sun newpaper featured Rocky River resident and Century Cycles customer Debby Milano, profiled during her bicycle trip from Fargo, North Dakota to Bar Harbor, Maine. During her bicycle trek across the country's northernmost route, Debby Milano passed through her hometown of Rocky River on July 28 with a group of more than 20 women.

Friends and family gathered at the Cleveland Yachting Club for a potluck reception to welcome the women, whose most recent trip began in Fargo, N.D. This summer, Milano and company continued last year's venture, which started in Anacortes, Wash.

This is the third cross-country trip Milano has made in the past five years. Her first was along the southern tier from San Diego, Calif. to St. Augustine, Fla., and another took her from Mobile, Ala. to Ontario, Canada.

The homecoming was an emotional one for Milano, who will spend a total of seven weeks on the road cycling with the group.

"So many great friends and family were there to cheer us on, I tear up now thinking about it," Milano said. "The effort put in and the number of people who were there to recognize our group of women was overwhelming for us."

The women will have traveled more than 2,500 miles by the time they reach their final destination of Bar Harbor, Maine.

While she's not on the road, Debby and husband Jay own and operate Milano Attorneys at Law on Wooster Road. The two have been active members of the Rocky River community.
