By Sue Botos

PEDAL POWER: Get your bicycle ready to roll at the Rocky River Bicycle Fair tomorrow from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the middle school, 1631 Lakeview. The fair will feature free safety inspections by professional bike mechanics from Century Cycles, free licenses and information about the benefits of bicycling, as well as the middle school's "Bike to School Challenge." The first 20 families to attend will receive a free bike helmet (limit one per family) courtesy of Century Cycles and Raleigh Bicycles.

The fair is part of the second annual "Rocky River Bike to School Challenge," which runs from May 7 - 24. This program program strives to encourage over 600 middle school students to ride their bikes to school as much as possible for three weeks, to improve their health, help the environment and and inspire the community to bike for short trips around town. Last year, an average of 193 students rode their bikes to school daily during the challenge for a total of 9,283 miles.
