Towpath Trail Summer 2023 Detour
The Cuyahoga Valley National Park has closed a section of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail for a major resurfacing project. The area affected is between the Station Road Bridge north to the Frazee House Trailhead.
The closure is in effect starting Monday, June 26, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed on Friday, July 28, 2023. UPDATE: The trail will remain OPEN through the July 4th holiday weekend (June 30-July 4), and will be CLOSED starting July 5th.
The Station Road Trailhead remains open, with access to the Towpath Trail going south still available.
There is no posted detour, but there are on-road options available. We have posted this information mainly for the benefit of those through-biking on the Ohio to Erie Trail. These routes should only be used if you are comfortable riding on public roads shared with motor vehicles. The routes can be very busy with car traffic, especially during the morning and evening commuter times.
